Assistant Treasurer

Job Purpose:                

Responsible for the successful operation of the treasury, a strong working relationship with various parts of the wider business and a desire to drive improvement and efficiency across Quintain’s cash management and liquidity.

The successful candidate will be working with, and will gain exposure to, all levels of management within Quintain including senior management.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Monitor and manage group’s liquidity, ensuring it meets the current and future financial obligations.
  • Partner with divisional finance teams to optimise cash management strategies and strengthen the control environment, driving change through continuous process improvements.
  • Assist the preparation of monthly and quarterly cash flow updates.
  • Review the bank reconciliations completed monthly for all bank accounts. Work closely with the Treasury Assistant to ensure receipts/payments or other reconciling items are posted to the accounting software in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ensure compliance with reporting requirements across group financings, liaising with internal and external stakeholders for input data.
  • Oversee the accurate and timely reporting of all debt-related information, including principal, interest, and maturity schedules.
  • Prepare monthly development loan drawdowns, to reflect forecast project cash requirements.
  • Key responsibility for managing a smooth group payments system - review all Faster payments, CHAPS payments, International Payments, BACS Direct and Domestic Bacs Payments, inter-account transfers etc. Follow up resolution when there are errors and correct process to avoid future repeat issues.
  • Support wider financing efforts of the Corporate Finance function.
  • Account for valuation changes in swaps and caps from valuation reports and accruals for loan interest for quarterly group management accounts. Reconcile and maintain audit schedules for key treasury balances such as loans, derivatives, interest costs and loan costs amortisation.
  • Maintaining schedule of capitalised loan costs.
  • Support the external audit process providing supporting evidence and timely responses to queries.
  • Responsible for PCI Compliance banking submission.
  • Responsible for creating new banking Merchant IDs.
  • Manage relationships with core banking partners, acting as the primary contact across general enquiries regarding anything from loans to day-to-day banking.
  • Own bank mandates and authorised signatory schedules.
  • Lead on the set up of new bank accounts as needed.
  • Line management of the Treasury Assistant, providing guidance and supporting their professional development.
  • Assist with implementation of Treasury related systems and process/control improvements.

General Accountabilities:

  • Undertake additional relevant duties which fall under the general scope of the role, as directed by your manager, raising any issues with capacity so they can be properly managed.
  • Participate in the full year and half year Performance Development Review process as reviewer and reviewee, meeting the standards and timescales required by the Company.
  • At all times ensure that you’re understanding and skill level regarding the Company’s IT systems are up to date, as applicable to your role. Undertake IT training as required to ensure full and proper use of the available technology.

Qualifications/Experience/Skills:

  • AMCT qualified (or studying toward AMCT).
  • 5 years+ experience within a Finance or Corporate Treasury environment.
  • Strong Excel skills (ideally with financial modelling experience).
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong team player with excellent interpersonal, leadership and influencing skills and ability to work well with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work under pressure to multiple deadlines.
  • Clear oral and written communication skills; ability to work with internal / external partners across different functions and communicate with all levels of management.
  • Knowledge and first-hand experience of major banking and treasury software and platforms.
